Speed dating Part 2
Then seated a new set of guys on our table. Ok..I remmeber these guys..coz they seated for a long time.. :p the guy on my left was Lam, IT Sales guy. The guy on the left Mong, runs his own business dealing with forklift. From one look, I can't really tell how old they are...but Lam the IT guy should be in his 30s...probably late 30s. Mong the forkllift guy is probably late 30s, early 40s. Well,i was telling myself, for anyone that sits down next to me, I will try my best to make conversation or not it'll be a quiet and boring night. So this Mong guy is more talkative comparisonly...haha.. In the process of the conversation, we were entertained by the drag queen. First when she/he appeared, it was a bit of a dreadful sight, but she/he turns out to be a very good entertainer! Probably should consider hiring her/him to entertain the crowd next time. She/he is funny, talented. Sang like 3 songs...first one was lip synced la...but the 2 after was Jacky Cheung's song leh...very nice. a bit weird to hear a deep voice when you're looking at a lady with an evening dress with lots of feathers...typical drag queen dress-up! She/he became the topic of conversation before things went quiet again... :p
When she/he left the stage, then became the next event. Officiating of the night by the VIP. The emcee said something bout the VIP(married), being the best candidate to give advice on how to maintain a good relationship/marriage...which kinda irked me a while. Coz i think that everyone's relationship/marriage is different so you can't really represent all with only one person's advice. That was what I think..but doesn't matter...boring speech. Then it was time for activities.
Activity #4: Gather in groups according to the colour of ur nametags.
YL's Thought: This is the first speed date session...which was horribly organised! Seriously..but then again, they did say, it's up to u to know ppl. But instructions not clear, lack of working committee. So the real objective was not met. Out of 30 ppl..i was only able to talk to 4 ... so...too bad la. Nevertheless, these 4 guys..i remember them quite well.
Guy #1 , Lam ,was sitting next to me earlier :P
Guy #2: Richard, guy who fix endoscope. How can you not remember this guy? Occupation also so different liao. He started his line with.."nama apa?mau tulis saman"
Guy #3: Sun. I remmeber him coz 1. Young looking fella, 28 actually. 2. Trading and mentioned that he makes 30k per month...
Guy #4: Alex(dunno how many Alexes I met that nite!). IT guy from HP.
Truthfuly..think i met more than 4 guys..only 4 was memorable enough to be mentioned :p
Next we needed to sit again and some activities on the stage. Guys were suppose to move table again. This time another guy sat next to me...can't remember his name...but I remember very clearly what he said to me. "You also engineer? I don't believe uni time dun have ppl go after lorr..." then he continues with this.. "You very tall hor...can find guy meh? Look at the guys here today...all also short wan..u can find meh?" He's taller than me la..but reminder to all guys who's planning to impress a girl...those lines DON'T WORK! this guy is an accounting analyst sumore! Not sure how old, probably late 30s too coz he was shocked to know that I'm still 26.
After that another round of activity:
Activity #5: Speed date Round 2 according to interest/hobby
YL's Thought: Well, up to this point, the emcee was encouraging ppl to go according to the places where they know the guys/gals like are.. there were 4 different category... not that i remember much, i went to the one with Travelling. ... BAD choice. :p should have went with the music part, think more ppl of interest there. But I was there doing a good deed and helping out cupid out a little..haha..one particular guy was eyeing on my friend and he's too shy ... hahaha...not that i know him that well... but then again..why not ask them to get together. You wouldn't know what would happen. :)
Activity #6: Speed date Round 3 according to the place you want to go
YL's Thought: Needed to go toilet.. :P But when I return..it was the same chaotic crowd. It was basically quite chaotic la..with ppl shoving their namecards to you and ppl gathering phone numbers. Not sure how many ppl I exchanged with.. :P Meaningless in a way..but let's see how many will actually call back (up to date..I have received SMS from 4 ppl). I remember 2 guys who came to me that time..Ah Teck, car accessories and aircond guy, and Desmond, not sure his profession...
Oh wait..i forgot the activity where we had to call other ppl up...which is kinda wu liao also...haha..we were suppose to grab a phone number, call the guy and meet up and go up on stage if needed. I know i called up an IT guy and another IT guy also called me up. Haha, it was filled with IT guys that nite! Forgotten all their names...too forgettable to leave an impression.
Anyway, after the speed date round, we were requested to be seated back at our place. Alex from speed date round 1 was sitting next to me. This time..it was close to the end, where they want like 5 couples to go on stage to get their all-expenses-paid dating session. haha..of course being cupid's little helper...i push for the shy guy to ask my friend up to stage. Kakaka... they had some Q&A thing on stage.
After that was the best moment of all...hahha..LUCKY DRAW! And guess what?? 1093 was the lucky number! ..... haha...one nice table lamp! Lovely! At least I got back something leh. Kinda rewarding to be luckily drawn :p And after that they opened the dance floor for like half n hour. They call it disco session... met a lady, Linda. This was what she commented on the night: "The guys are all boring" ... hahha..i have to agree with her. :) But then again, what do you expect at the first place rite? :) So we danced away till about 12. Reached home about 1 something.
YL thoughts of the overall experience: It was good in a way. I have mixed feelings on it actually. Coz
1. I din expect much, but there is REALLY stil a lot of singles out there...
2. Lots of guys are afraid of rejection
3. Lots of guys are too shy...can you believe that the girls overshone the guys...
4. Still a lot of guys don't know what to do when they are faced with a girl...
5. Din't like how the event went, coz i think it could've been done better...but nevertheless...I believe some did manage to find a partner/date that nite
6. there's also still a lot of male chauvinis out there...
7. happy for my friend who found a date...basically, that's why you're there, to get to know ppl
8. quite happy to get to know new ppl
You know..WJ asked me this the other day: "Would you join this kinda event again?"
My answer: Depends on the organiser and quantity of ppl. If it's another big crowd and same organisers.I have my reservations.
SO that's the long winded report, think i cover most of the highlights of the night. Wishing my friend a good time during her 4-weekend-all-paid dating session! and May you singles out there find someone special soon enough .. :)

I crossed the finishing line!!
Woohoo...look at us PROUDLY posing with our certs! :P Seems like 45 minutes was really achievable for some. I'm not sure the real time it took me to finish..but for my watch, seems like it was less than 60 minutes..i took about 50-55. Hahaha...5 minutes makes a lot of difference! :D Although I did come back with my legs & body aching.. slept through the afternoon till I got a call from cousin to go over for some "tong yuen"! Oh yess..I managed to have some this year too thanks to my aunt! :)
Another update would be on the cupid space speed dating event. I have some mix feelings over this event la. To me, it could've been better. In terms of venue, food, place, activites ... but the drag queen was good.very entertaining too! That was my favourite part of the whole night actually...OH..another was actually when they called my number for the lucky draw! :P 1093, not bad..I got myself a table lamp. RM150 was a bit overpriced..but it's okay. It's the experience. So the night started off with the registration of course. Then came the chit chat...then we entered the ballroom. Ladies were sitting on the chairs with bow, and guys seated alternately lor..normal. Can't remmeber who was first seated on my left or right..hard to manage 2 guys at one time.. hahah :P In other words, they were probably too quiet till there's nothing that makes them outstanding. I'm not sure if I made an impression..but then, things didn't improve throughout the night. Different guys were getting more boring...asking phone contacts seems to be the game..I gave, not that I find it was that necessary considering you might forget them once the night ended. Which I think most of them did... pointless!
Activity #1: Gather round and draw a fruit to describe urself. Then find a partner with the same fruit. Couples with matching fruit was required to get up stage to tell a bit more of themselves.
YL's Thought: Ice-breaking event, but instructions was not clear, so ppl were lost, and don't know what to do.
Activity#2: Find partner with same birthday and month.
YL's Thought: This was even worse, very hard to find coz count the possibilities! But I was playing along. Didn't find myself someone with the same birthday..found a guy with the same birthday as CJ ..
Activity #3: Get into groups of 10 with a partner. Some coordination activities. Then needed to dance/twist..
YL's Thought: This was okay, considering lots were still clammed up without a word said. I was unfortunately was asked to go up on stage. In the process, got my heels strap broken...sigh...so had to go down again and changed to my sandals.. haha..thank god! :P A guy named Leslie was accompanying me. Haha..thank goodness i can save myself from the embarassment! Was suppose to do the twist on the stage in front of everyone! :P
And the activities goes on..will update this later...better get something serious done!

Another year???
1st weekend : Cousin's wedding
2nd weekend: CW & Brian's wedding
3rd weekend: Dinner function
4th weekend: JF & HY's wedding
Oh wow..look at my weekends. So besides work, I'm busy with my all those weddings to attend. Busy month ahead!
And things are also picking up at the forum. We're currently trying to work out a plan for the coming Youth '09 gathering to be held on the 9-11 January. Our idea is to form a group representing the Klang Community Youths to attend this event. SO if you are a youth in Klang, please join us..you can put in ur names through this link:

Well, something interesting about the 3rd weekend dinner function. I'm going to a match-making event~!! Hahah...never in my mind I thought thatI would be part of this kinda function. But then again, i think should be fun. Jacqueline approached me the other day asking whether I was interested, after being persuaded, I was thinking why not? Could be fun. Cost RM150...not cheap of a "why-not?" Nevertheless...will try to enjoy myself. :)
So that's all for a sleepy monday...will post again when there's time ..
