China story continues...

I'm a bit surprised that a junior of mine approached me saying he read my blog. Nvm, I knew someone will bump into my blog one day. So ...welcome... I guess... :D

Anyway, let's continue with China...

19th Dec 2005

Started with my first day of training. Standard intro session. So awkward, most of the people there are like sooo much more experienced than me. The biggest surprise was meeting with Rohan, another MMU-ian. Din expect to see him there. I got to know that I wasn't the only fresh grad there lar...which was kinda not so intimidating after all. So it was ok...kinda boring for a first day..somewhere in the mid of it I think i fell asleep. Then first day lunch in the canteen. First exposure to the fatty, oily and salty food. Believe it or not, I finished it. After that was another introductory to the Chinese culture: Everyone sleeps after lunch...along the corridors~!!! They have like sofas along the corridors put just for that~!! You can see it from the picture below. This is just one of the corridors.

Should have taken pic of the pantry also. We have breaks of 10 minutes every morning and afternoon and we'll head to the pantry for green tea. First week, still new to the place, we see the fruits in the pantry but we dare not take any. Haha..funny coz when it came closer to the end, we took all of it. :P The thing is...the first day of training, I got my cup and all the stuff that needed to study on...it was a thick book. Other references were copied into my laptop. So first day ended with some basic introduction and by the time we finished with training, it was already dark outside and it was only 6pm~! We head back to our room and dropped our bags and it was 7 something that we decided to get ourselves dinner. We walked into some restaurant nearby the hotel and ordered some food.Ohh...temperature was about 10 degrees come night time. After dinner, we over to the supermarket to get some stuff like biscuits and instant noodles just in case. Then this became our routine for the coming days. After dinner, was back in my room doing surfing and study~!! Yea, the training comes with a test at the end of the week. It's like back to school for me. So after some studying...haha..and TV. a lot of channels there, and most of the time I'll be tuned into the MTV channel.

21st Dec 2005

Repeats 1-10 of previous day. Only thing different was I went to get some fruits from the nearby fruit stall. Grapes, oranges and apples. And dinner this time around was in the nearby mall. We tried KFC...which was WAY EXPENSIVE although after conversion and not worth it also. My colleague was complaining bout it. But one thing good was the Portugese egg tart...who would have thought KFC serving egg tart~!

22nd Dec 2005

Repeats of 1-10. Starting to feel a bit tensed coz test is the next day. Just read what I could and hope for the best.

23rd Dec 2005

Test day...wasn't that bad. Trainer sat in front busy doing his work, we were at the back discussing most of the time. The other guy was even better, he had his laptop on to check on the answers. But I tried to answer most of it by myself before really giving up. Test took up half the day. Classes resume after lunch. At night, we had free dinner complimentary of the organisers of the training. It was a Christmas night celebration. We had buffet dinner...yeah, it was good food after all the bad ones we had be4 this night came along. :P After that was the celebration thingy with songs and dances. Was there till bout 11 something then return to our rooms.

24th Dec 2005

Hong Kong here we come ~!!! Was suppose to be scheduled with classes on this day but since the trainer thought Christmas was a big celebration in our country, he thought he'd give us all the day off. So since we had the multiple entry visa, we made a last minute plan to drop by HK. Our trainer brought us there. It was my first experience with the public bus i think...bus 415...I will never forget it in my life. We reached Lo Hu train station bout 11 something...and there were LOTS of people already waiting at the immigration. We got to Hong Kong about 12 plus. Took the train and went straight to Mong Kok. Had lunch there in one of the resturants...and yea, being the tourist, we were expecting a lot of throat-cutting session...and YES, first cut-throat session was lunch. All of us ordered the signature dish of the shop. They had Small, Medium or Large portion. I chose small and that already cost me HKD48. It was HKD68 for medium and HKD88 for Large. Frankly, we all couldn't find any much difference in all that sizes, probably only the bowl. :P

So after lunch, we went over to see handphones....never did I expect to get my new phone there. It was REAL cheap after conversion. I think I got a good bargain lar in the end of the day. Although when I came back, I found out the price here is about there. I probably save RM100 only for my new phone. Yeah...2005, the year of new gadgets. It's Sony Ericsson W550i walkman phone. Very cool...never regretted getting it. We spent half our day in that place looking at phones and comparing prices. Then off we go to Kowloon East to see fireworks for Christmas countdown. Then it was shoppinggggggg... I bought a scarf, 2 pairs of socks, a top and skirt for my niece. Too much of shopping la..my legs were way beyond tired already. We walked the whole day and not stopped till it was dinner....My goodness... Then dinner...we had siu long bau which was really good and some noodles. Walked sumore after that then we head home. It was a long and tiring day. But it was fun. My first time in HongKong. :)

To be continueddd......
