An unforgettable wedding

I was at Michelle's wedding yesterday. Her wedding is the first ever church wedding that I've attended. It was a very beautiful reception. Very beautiful church in Puchong. Too bad didn't have my camera. I hope someone will send me some pics of that day. It was a Catholic wedding, heard from Chia Wei the Protestant wedding is much simpler. Will know that when she gets married. :) Michelle looked absolutely amazing in her gown. She marched in with Siew Yee singing at the background. Very touching scene. Michelle's dad was quite funny too. Being very busy with the camera the whole event. After the morning ceremony, we had lunch at the church basement.

After the break from the morning ceremony, did some running around with some bills to settle. Met up with Bev and KW for BKT. Didn't eat la, just was sitting in to drink tea with them. Haven't seen them for sometime. :) went back, and WASHED my car, after like months of dust that had settled on my car! :p

Then needed to get ready for the night. We got there earlier for the pre-dinner cocktail. Nothing much, just ppl mingling around. Holiday Villa Subang. Victorian Ballroom. Very nice setting. Different from the ballroom for Danny's wedding the last time I was there. Smaller ballroom. Met up with the CF-ers from back then. Nice to catch up with a few of them. Dinner was good. The programs from start till end was a delightful one. I like the way both of them march in the room, unlike any other weddings I've been too. Michael sang part of a song then Michelle came in. It was "I've finally found someone". Very lovely couple. Even the food presentation was a different one, rather than the waiters coming in with some kitaro song, or
the lady with the trishaw... this was just a very cute presentation which involves 2 swans, a lot of hearts, and a few smaller swans. the waiters had to carry the props and move around on the stage along with the song. Ended with 3 signs that says: Michael and Michelle, Marriage Made In Heaven, Dinner is served. Food was not bad, but I was seated with all the ladies, so most of the dishes are not finished.

Let's move on with the "unforgettable" part of it. Lilian went to Philipines and brought back balut! And she brought it during the dinner! So everyone was so curious about it, watched Alvin swallow the first. Then Joseph...I got curious too. Leona was taking a bite, I told her I wanted to try. She gave me half of it. It was okay at first..without thinking, just bite on it. It tasted like meat with the egg yolk. But then they start to play with it, coz the balut i was eating had feathers. Then the thought came to me, sheesh... i can imagine how the Fear factor people feel when they have to eat like a whole bowl of it. I had to take sweet things frm then on. The aftertaste is really bad. I down half a glass of wine, then sweet desserts from then on to cover the taste. Would I try it again? No, unless someone dared me to.

Broken In~!

Police report:

"Pada 18/03/08, jam lebih kurang 1430 hrs ketika saya pulang ke rumah dapati pintu hadapan rumah saya telah terbuka dan telah diumpil. Setelah masuk ke dalam rumah dapati barang-brang di dalamnya berselerak. Saya syaki rumah saya telah dimasuki pencuri. ...."

Ok..so the story, should the same as the ones some of you already heard. But let's do it all over again to tell everyone about it. So this is what happened ( abit of harp-enhanced music at the background ... )

On Tuesday, when I was out for lunch, phone rang. My aunt told me that my house was broken in. Shocked as I was that time, I sweared the four-letter word quite loud in the mall. Didn't know what to respond then. Got myself home, then saw what damaged was done. The ride home felt like thousands of kilometres...got back, realised my front gate was still lock. Turns out the thieves climbed over and spoilt a bit of the shade in front of the house. Broken my front grill lock.

Can't see it that clear, but the cut off the "ear" of the grill to get in.

And then started searching for stuff. What I can see when I got back was the back door and back gate were opened. So they came in front, escape from back. They must've done that first. And I suspect it's 2 people at least. One to search for keys to the back and one to start searching, considering there's very short time for them. So what I saw was all the drawers opened. My room was the worst hit, coz has the most stuff. But they should be quite fast when they do it coz besides my desk drawers and cupboard, other places looked untouched.

Colleagues came back with me, helped me to get a new lock and all..this is what I'm keeping my house locked with:

Thanks to everyone that has helped me with the whole bizzare breaking-in thing. In the messy conditions, I actually thot my bank saving books are missing, so I went to all the trouble to get them replaced only to find them back when I started clearing up some stuff. Went to the police about evening when it started to pour. The whole police thing from reporting till them coming in to my house to snap some pics took about a couple of hours. Police was asking me who do I suspect? I said no one. I guess they've been watching for quite sometime before they took action. They also realised that my neighbour is always there, so they needed a quick search before my neighbour gets back I guess. Anyhow, from what my neighbour said it was a Wira. And a day after my house got broken in, another one nearby also got broken in with the same method. Might be related, but residents of Taman Klang Jaya, Taman Sri Andalas, Taman Desawan, please look out for Black Wira with a group of Indian men. If you suspect anything, please dial 999 to inform the police.

With all the mess, what was lost was only a few hundred bucks from my angpows! But I also believed that they took my old spoilt nokia 8210 too...I don't keep expensive stuff at home. The most valuable should be the electrical appliances at home which is already old and going to spoil dy. SO, if u're a thief reading this, please, this house is not worth you breaking in anymore. Please proceed next door~!

A new beginning?

Malaysia's 12th General Election was just yesterday. Sad to say that I didn't get to cast my vote due to some technical problems which involves a little confusion on the closing date of registration...okay fine, I was too lazy to register, so I didn't get to do it. BUT turns out if I did cast my vote, results would came out to be the same( WRONG ATTITUDE AND THINKING...I know I know...) SO I will make sure I'll vote the next election.

SO the results came out to be quite surprising, but it was hoped for since the last election I guess. It's really time to change. Political analyst calls this the political tsunami. They were all shocked with the defeat of a lot of incumbent MPs. Well, everyone was quite united to make a change this time around. So, with the results come a lot of follow up. Let's hope with more of the opposition's voice in the Parliment would actually help and create a better country. And I do hope that all those street "decor" would be removed soon enough. Kinda irritating.

Yea..a new beginning for all of us. :)

Moving on...

Hmm..it's another month down the road.Already the second month of the year. But this has been one of the longest month that I've felt. Every single day..the next day when I checked on the calendar, it's still a long way to finish off the month. And it's finally the 27th~!..28th...din get to finish this post yesterday. This year Feb has 29 days~! Yeay to everyone who can celebrate their birhtday tmr. :D

So everyone is well aware of the Edison Chen scandal recently. Some might have seen the pics and rumours has it that there's more to his collection than the ones distributed out. I agree with Jian when he said this kinda scandal if it were to happen in Hollywood, wouldn't go up to this kinda scale. Not really a fan of his, but as an actor, his retirement from the entertainment industry because of a scandal like this is not what he'll be proud about 50 years down the road. I can say it's too bad that he got unlucky with the leak of the pictures. Serves as a lesson to everyone out there to keep ur private intimate pictures..private! And the apology came a little too late when life of the women posing in the pics will never be the same anymore. Tarnished imaged, rocky marriages, failed marriage...things will never be the same. Edison said something in his public apology about giving time for everyone to heal, well, it's a helpless cry, but I think the society at large should give him that tiny bit of respect. Takes a lot for him to stand up and have a public apology for what he has caused. So let's all leave him alone and move on...

On another note, been a week where I've faced with immature ppl, mostly at work..Can't believe it can still happen, but still, have to deal with it. Ppl can act childish all they want, just that they don't involve me in their childish act. Not gonna elaborate..just thought that I think some attitude can be improved if people would think of the big picture rather than some small petty issues.

Enjoy your Feb 29th! That day don't come often...

The Age Factor

Hmm..was reading Jian's blog entry on how a French guy in his 40s trying to woo this 23 yr old girl. And he also said something about the girl not willing to accept him although he's shown some interest in her coz he already failed on the age part. A bit sad rite?

So how does this age factor influences one's decision to hook up? (can't think of a better word for now)

My view, in the early years...a girl should pick preferably a guy who's 0 or 2 years older. Not too far, coz can keep the gap close enough, they would have same topics and it'll be easier to get along. Looks is part of the factor.
My view, a couple of years ago, nearer to uni time ... it's still prefered the older guy who is probably 0-3 years apart. Again it could keep the age gap as close. Was still thinking about getting the same topics to talk about. What changed was probably at this time, looks should not be a factor rather one should look for someone with a good heart and personality.
My view, today...i'll still prefer that the girl to pick the older guy. Now with age difference from 0 up to 10-15 years apart. Once the social circle grows, you'll realise that there are more choices to pick. And that thinking bout not getting the same topics, had been scrapped off. Personality shall still be one of the factors, and maturity and financial stability would be plus points.

So what I'm trying to say is, I totally agree that age is a factor. Just how you view it, and go about it. For me, one view that has not changed would be choosing younger men. I do mind a guy with a younger age. Another colleague said it before too, men matures very much later than women. I still remember back in uni we did a tech-comm paper on "Older women and younger men relationships"... can't really remember what was our conclusion to that hypothesis. Need to dig out that report and read again. I think the stand was we do believe that it can work out coz of some reasons. Hmm..SC, Jian..u remember? Leave me some comments.

The guy who used 40k to propose..

This guy has made name for himself la. Front page, newspaper article hits...Still don't know his name, but everyone knows his bride-to-be's name coz it's on the billboard! Well, spending RM40000 on a billboard, some might say he's a romantic guy (most of the girls might be nodding heads), some might just say it's a foolish act( okay, big percentage of you ppl are nodding heads...) But come to think of it, I think he could've done something else that's equally memorable yet not that expensive...then again, considering he's quite rich at the first place, that amount of money is not that significant to him.

So,if you're a guy, can you think of the best way you want to propose to your lovely wife-to-be?

And if you're a girl, have you had any fantasies about how your bf would propose?

My time has not come to share this yet, so no sharing on this topic and if any of you want to leave comments, please do :D

CNY CNY

Hmm..another V-day coming. Another spent single. Don't misunderstand, not complaining or am i whining about being single. Just thought of putting that as a start to my post. So it's been a long week away. Can't get back to the working mood just yet. Another CNY it has been~! (Although only the 7th day, but feels like it's back to normal)

This year is spent in Klang again. So it's me getting all the CNY stuff, plus my dad doing all the cleaning and re-painting. It was not a complete family gathering again. Mom was kinda fed up by it and said next year we would all be in singapore for the reunion dinner. So that would be the plan next year. My nieces had grown taller and naughtier...but even more adorable than the last time i saw them. LOVE them to their bones! Of course, the occasionally "why" questions from them are quite hard to answer. So it was 6 days in klang..and the place I visited the most of JJ bukit tinggi~! The new cinema is opened and watched CJ7 there. Will catch another session of CJ7 at Sunway tonight. Jau b'day celebration. :) The show's okay.

So it's another CNY where I stuffed myself with a lot of food. Goodness, don't want to weigh myself also, but had to. Sigh, gained a bit more..and it's TIME TO LOOSE! So many more food to finish at home. Have to bring it to office already.

And that's about it on CNY this time. Short post. Hope can get my pictures frm the phone to be posted up.

Hidden secrets

So what can I say...it's good to know that Nyuet and Thean are going out. But took them 7 months to tell us? And Thean, too much of story-telling on his side la. Damn fake mannn...tak tahan. And Nyuet..I thot we were friends...not sure what happened? Not even a hint? Can understand about her feeling the insecurity frm the first few months of the relationship...but then...not a hint? Sigh..so disappointed in a way, but I am very happy for her after getting over the upset feeling that she kept me and the rest in the dark. I do hope for the best for these 2. I just hope my other closer friends don't just get married and inform me only when they are getting a kid.

Updates..

Well, was suppose to update on the PD trip with my uni friends last January, too lazy to work on the pics, probably backtrack later. If not, just to summarise, it was a wonderful trip to PD. Took a lot of pics, still waiting for those nice portraits if any. Made me feel like getting a SLR too.

Anyway, January was good. Time passes real quick. And I just realised I've been teaching for 5 months...going to the 6th, not sure there's continuation or not.My kids are too good that they have excel and moving on to the advance level. it's just a matter of time, when I get back from CNY hols, might be my last day dy. Sob..sob..no teaching for a while. gonna miss my kids!

And January also marks my new beginning. A new status at work...which is good. On the way to achieve my goals. I hope this year would be a better year in everything!

Of course, CNY is just around the corner, and I have Avril Lavigne playing in the background as I type. Can't seem to find the excitement and anticipation. I wonder where did all go. This time around, would be in Klang. Bought all the stuff needed and let's hope this CNY would be a much interesting one! :) So to all my Chinese friends who is reading this: HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR.

Date to be remembered

13 Jan 2008. I've received good feedback about my student! The feeling? Damn fulfiling. I now love teaching and how my students relate to me. The story is...my student's mom was telling the centre boss about how impressed she is with the progress of her son, which reflects good job and praises about, moi, yours truly :D Her son, according to her, was not that conversive in English before this and she realised the change after he's openly talking to her in English! The boss was saying this is the best feedback to date! Indirectly, I'm interpreting that as a pat on the back for the job well done. Muahaha...felt so good today. My kids made me so happy. The boy showed how much he likes having me as his teacher. The girl volunteered to tell a story.Isn't that amazing? Although still having problem with her sitting down quietly throughout the class. Wow...still feeling the satisfaction till now and i just needed to blog about it!

Letting Go of Your Bananas

I've recently got into MPH and started reading this one book: Letting Go of Your Bananas by Dr. Daniel T. Drubin. You can get the first chapter for free read online...And chapter 1 is the one I was able to read before I met up with my friends. So this is what I interpreted from that one chapter: It's time to let go of rotten bananas. Rotten bananas here would mean something negative that's holding you on and not helping at all. And I think it's time I let go some of my rotten stuff too. Sad that it had to take a book to make me realise of all the rotten stuff I'm holding on to. So I guess this weekend would be for me to clean up! 2008 just started, there's still time to start anew. Well, this is my interpretation for the 1st chapter. Don't think I'm even into the book yet. Will walk in to MPH again and check out the book. Too expensive to buy la.. :P A bit cheapo la, but then what the heck. I still get to read it. I can say that I've met my first bump on the journey into 2008 already, and I hope things will turn out to be better after this. I just need to be strong and more focused. I want to be in the position to choose. And I choose to be good to myself again~! NOTE TO MYSELF: Focus...focus...

Dreams and fantasy..

So have you your dreams and fantasy? Have you fulfill them? I've got to know a new friend. We shared an interesting conversation lately telling me how his dreams are like and how he'd work towards that direction...also in the conversation was what he's been through and how he'd overcome the odds and bounced back after hitting rock bottom. It's stories like these that's really inspiring. Not that I want to hit rock bottom la, I do hope I won't need to go through the rough times like he did. The right attitude, strength and determination are just the right keys to success. Okay, determination is always a strong factor...I hope I can find that determination to do some changes in my life.

It's another weekend. Classes had started today. The thought of my "children" had to face exam was getting stressful. The girl didn't really match up to the boy and it's giving me a headache. I just need her to express herself by making sentences that makes sense. Don't care about the grammar, i just need it to make sense. Will try another speaking session soon enough. Story telling probably was too much for them.turns out i'm the one telling it. Hope they did learn something...

This weekend was quite boring la. My dad came back. Another spotcheck session. He didn't nag much this time around, but he did a clean up and threw a lot of my stuff that i need/want. He was in the mood to shop and we went. Me fully sponsor la. :) At least something that I can do for my dad. :) And it's the first time I've shopped with him only. Since doesn't happen that often, I didn't mind if he wanted the RM200+ T-shirt also lar...but he didn't want. Too bad lorr

This time around, shopping was tiring. Maybe coz did not buy anything for myself. Boring weekend ending soon...looking forward.

Happy 2008!

Behold..it's the new year! I've started off the year with a bang!! Seriously, was at The Curve for the countdown yesterday night. Standing right under the fireworks, oh yea, it was indeed a very loud way to kick start the new year. So how did we end up there?Read on...

It was a New Year eve with no plans at the beginning. Half day at work. Supposedly wanted to plan out something with colleagues, which in the end didn't turn out. Had to re-invite myself to a dinner that I thought I couldn't make it for. It was great. Met up with the whole bunch of MMU friends...some even haven't seen them since grad. We had dinner at Damansara Village. Steamboat! Which didn't turn out that bad lar. Drove myself to Pei Jet's to wait for Kah Seng to pick us up. The plan that PJ initially told me was counting down at Velvet, which was switched to Laundry. Well, since I also didn't have anyhting to do, why not? Dinner was filling. Then we went on chatting. Think we were quite loud. There were 18 of us.Quite a crowd for the first time after so long....so after that bout 10, we started our journey there. Jammed with slow moving traffic, we took our chances and went all the way to cineleisure. Found a nice parking, got out the car.It was about 11.15pm then.Walked through the crowded area. Too restless from the jam and decided not to enter any clubs after all. So we just went for baskin robbins and waded our way to open area in front of Cineleisure. Before that, I bumped into an old unimate. Both of us quite surprised to see each other. Hahaha, thot I saw the wrong person, that's why I told him I'm afraid of approaching ppl already, to save myself the embarassment like the last time. :P So after ice-cream, PJ, KS and I were chatting and before you know it, 1U started off their fireworks display. Weird, we just look at our watches and it wasn't even 12~!
probably 1 minute to 12 :P Anyhow, we didn't really literally countdown. We just stood there waiting for the fireworks for The Curve. It was a longer and nicer display. :D Quite impressed...coz the ones in 1U was just normal. I think it's after the fireworks competition, you start to compare them. Anyhow, we were standing at a fantastic spot, where you just need to look up and you can see it. A bit like watching a movie in the first two rows of seat. Thanks to the Avanza parked there la. Nice platform to lean on as you watch. :P I really enjoyed myself, thanks PJ for inviting me to countdown! and thanks KS for driving us there! Since we had this really nice parking spot, right after the fireworks, we got to the car and made our way back. KS went to pump petrol, we were all expecting a petrol price increase, but to our surprise...it;s still RM1.92/litre. Hmmm.... We weren't caught in the jam and the journey back was not too bad. :) Just that had this minor jam in federal that slowed my journey back. Got back home bout 1.45am.

The one thing I hate about any countdown/street party - SPRAY...any type. Be it the ribbons or the snow sprays. Quite irritating and I get this ashmatic-type of reaction everytime I inhaled any of it...hate it when they start spraying although emptied. Don't they know there's gas in it that will irritate the hell of ppl like me? Pls, spread the word....

So..that was how the day started. New Year's day. Started off with a dimsum session and followed up with movie session at Midvalley. Warlords. Thought I'd catch it before they stop screening. Well, KS and I was thinking that all online booking already cannot take dy, so we went to purchase over the counter. So eager to watch it, we took the second row seats! Quite a nice show actually. So it's worth the-not-so-strategic seats la. After that I got back home. Rested, before I headed off to Puchong to meet SC, Zheng, HJ and WJ. You know who you are la. Thanks guys...It will be remembered that we've met at the beginning of the year, also marks the 8th year that I know SC, Zheng and Jau and the 7th year I know WJ. Wow..has been that long eh?? can you believe it?!?! Also today marks the registration of marriage of a good friend of ours: Niam. Don't know if he reads this, but anyway, would send my heartiest congratulations to you. Have never met your wife before but would love to see her, probably when I go visit Penang again. Best wishes, my friend! Even an old friend is already married and I only found out today. Hmmm..I better start getting back in touch with my old friends. Will include that in my resolutions.

So this is a great beginning to the year. I'm looking forward to many many more great things to come. The last few days of year 2007 were memorable and simply fantastic! So with the renewed resolutions and some new ones added, let's look at what I need to achieve this year:

1. Diet. I hope I can meet my original target this coming year. No worries, I can still be available for makan sessions ..so don't forget me! hahha...I'll work out or something after that.. :P
2. Read and read. I need to finish books! :P
3. Another travel plan. Waiting for another AirAsia promotion period to decide on where...or go China with my parents and relatives...still considering.
4. Save $$$. Hahaha...so far, I can't really plan on this. But one thing...I'll cut down on my shopping for shoes la. That will help save a bit..i hope :P Thank goodness I recently bought a pair before last year ended, :P
5. Catch up with old friends. Emails I guess..or make a trip up north? What say you guys in KL? Wanna do some road trip to penang or soemthing?
6. Get organised. I need to re-organised some stuff at home. Still pending on that since last few years. Will make that my resolution so that would make point to achieve it.

So that's all I can think of for now. Happy New Year 2008 again. I hope your new year would be filled with joy with all good things coming your way no matter in your careers, your health and prosperity, or matters of the heart. That's about covers it all. I think the most important is to make sure you live a healthy lifestyle...Alrite, all the best to all and have a great year ahead!

1st Jan - Memorable day, Happy Birthday! Hope you have a good time in Sweden, Jian!

Reflections of 2007

It's the last Friday of the year. I think should be a good time to start blogging/bitching/complaning/whining( whatever you call it!) for the year that is going to past.

Let's start by reviewing my resolutions for this year and probably renew them for the coming year.
1. Diet. Results: Yeah, I think I did a good job in that, although a bit slacking coming to the end of the year...sigh, but will work on those extra kgs sumore the coming year :D
2. Read/complete my old books. Results: Yeah, did quite a bit of reading this year. Completed some books, and bought new ones and completed those. So I still have some unread books. So, will work on those the coming year too.
3. Travel. Results: I did! And the biggest achievement was getting myself out of the country and headed to Bangkok. After that it was a couple of domestic travelling. I have that in my blog. Merdeka Road Trip + Langkawi Trip. The coming year? Might have some places in mind. I just hope I have the financial support I need for that.
4. Shop less. Results: Nope, I think I did just the opposite for this year. Sigh, that resulted to less savings and a higher sum in my credit card bill to settle. SO let's try the same resolution next year...although I doubt it'll work.
5. Doing something less ordinary. Results: I did. I took up teaching, seriously, something I didn't think I would have the patience to. But for this 4 months, I'm still okay. I have another half a year to go.

So on the overall, I think making achievable resolutions are quite satisfying in a way. Actually, I'm quite happy about it. Of course you also "grow up" throughout the whole year. It's been an interesting year.

Phantom of the Opera - Esplanade Theatre Singapore. Yeap, yeap. Superb show. That was in April. My very first fine dining experience was this year. Thanks to the projects I was in. Quite a fulfilling year for the taste bud. Tried a lot of good food. Yea, makes the loosing weight part a bit harder. This year is Starbucks year also. Too much of that this year. Working on getting my 2008 planner. 3 more drinks to go. I'm crazy dy. Continue on...First ever bridemaid's duties to carry out...which brought me to a small town of Sitiawan for the first time. First time on the luxury bus to Singapore. Of course, it's not all jovial throughout the year. There's also some down times. This year I felt the most depressed about certain things, but then I'm choosing to forget them and move on.Emotional roller coaster year. Oh oh...forgot, this year is when I shifted office from Sunway. We've got a couple of new colleagues, which is kinda fun. My vacations/trips were unforgettable. Had a great time in Bangkok, Langkawi and the Merdeka Road trip. Health wise, only worth mentioning about my chicken pox week lor. Went for detoxing, and ended up join Amway for that. But I'm not an active member, so no worries, I won't be coming up to you selling stuff. Oh ya..the new opening of Jusco bukit tinggi. Created quite a buzz here. New items added: my Ipod Nano, my new specs ...will be aiming for that new phone next year.W910i...hehe.

So that's about all for this year... 2007 was a great year! There's a few days left in the year, let's all embrace and celebrate it! (I hope my pay is in already for this celebration to take place.. :P) Have a good time celebrating your 2007. And I've just noticed that my blog sitemeter has reached 1000. Wow..thanks to everyone for your time to read this.

More recap ..

So last weekend was winter solstice. A day where we eat tong yuen. No pics yet, but what the heck? Just thot I'd blog about it. It was an interesting session with Mell and her family. It's the first time that I've experienced making tong yuen from the beginning till it was cooked. :D We went through the whole process of mixing the glutinous rice powder till colouring it. Then we start making them into little tong yuen balls. Mell's mom made the sugar syrup to go with it. We did it in 5 colours. Pink, green, yellow, white and BLUE! Yea, debut with blue. It's the first time I see it too. We tried with blueberry too. They were feeling innovative and wanting to try something new. And so we did it. Tasted a little sour, but then didn't taste that bad after a few. We had the gula melaka filling too...quite sweet. We were at the whole thing for more than 2 hours I think. It was very fun and satisfying. Thanks Mell.... **hugs**

Then let's fast forward to Christmas Day. Wow...9-hours of shopping. Tiring! Frankly, don't think in the end we bought much. Tried clothes got la..but buying them, very few only. But good enough for this year and a couple of months before my wallet start to bleed again. Thanks SC for the wonderful shopping experience. Haha..can't believe we actually queued for the Giordano sale. And other crazy stuff we do.. I really miss uni times. Oh ya, was too bored over the weekend and bought myself a new pair of specs! So ...will be wearing more of it dy! To office, to go out, at home, to shopping! Muahaha... So it was a good shopping spree trip. Spent more than I expect. I'm so broke. I hope my pay comes in soon! No pics for now. Maybe next time...

Last week of December...

Wow..we're coming to the end of the year. That's pretty fast!!! And I haven't been blogging much. So let's rewind a bit. 19th December...my ex-roomie's b'day. Muahaha...finally old liao leh!!! Welcome to the club.

There she is..all smiley getting old. :D Nice cake too!

We ate at Mizi Shabu-Shabu. Those with personal hotpot. Taste,erm..as I always think, you can't really mess up steamboat. The only thing would be the raw ingredients are not fresh...which is not the case. So it turns out to be okay. Ohh..can comment about the sauces though. not that good la. :P So here, need to say a big thank you to Wei Jing for doing the organizing...this is the best organiser you can find la...he even sent this out to us:

What a good planner...Digi so lucky. So if you guys interested to get to this steamboat place. Search no more. Here's the map!

It was nice meeting up with everyone for a small chat. After that fulfilling dinner. We had the cake cutting thingy. Fruit cake. Nice! Mr and Mrs Wong was there. Horng Jau, Yong and Tio too. We got to movies after that. I Am Legend. Turns out to be not so bad. :)

So...quite lazy to blog on. Haven't got my pics from the tong yuen thing. Will update again once I've got it.

The weekend that was..

It was a beautiful wedding the past weekend...It was just lovely and my brother can give a very touching speech. Yealor..imagine if a guy confess his love to you in front of everyone, can be a bit corny but still, you'd shed a tear or two listening to it.

Pre-Wedding Day

So I got to Singapore on Friday morning. Long queue at the Woodlands immigration. Waited almost an hour there. A reminder to first time travellers to Singapore from Malaysia by coach: First checkpoint in Malaysia, only your passport is required. Second checkpoint in Woodlands, Singapore, take all your belongings along. This is what happened to a lady. At Woodlands, bus dropped us off. She went dashing to the immigration without her belongings and after an hour after passing the checkpoint, she got back to the bus to know that her belongings were left at the earlier drop-off point. The bus driver wasn't being that sympatethic also la, they just asked her to approach the immigration personnel for her baggage and left her. She wanted to take the bus all the way in to Beach Road. So I don't really know how the lady settled her problem after that la. Been travelling too much on my own, tend to be selfish once comes to the checkpoint because there's a lot of irresponsible bus drivers that will not send you all the way to your destination. So what I normally do is being kiasu a bit, walk a bit faster, get pass the checkpoint faster and make the bus driver arrange me a transport in if he decides not to go all the way.The bus journey was quite bad, considering I was coughing all the way. Didn't really catch any sleep on it. Reached at about 6am. Got my bro to come out and fetch us.

Then the long day started. My parents had it all planned and not informing me about it. SO fine, thought I'd go along. Breakfast in the market, then travel to Chinatown...all we did was walk and walk and walk. Damn tiring. I was coughing my lungs out already. Up to a point where I lost my voice, all that could come out was noise. Anyway, they got checked into the hotel about afternoon. Then everyone got their wanted rest. So did I~! Then after a couple of hours of sleep, then it was time for dinner. We had this ala-carte buffet in TeaHouse in Chinatown. Quite worth it actually, SGD28++. Chinese style, with over 50 choices of dishes to choose from. After dinner about 8 something, it was walking time again. Just walked a while then we got home. Saturday starts REALLY early.

WEDDING day

This is another wedding culture I learnt. Teochew ppl in Singapore will pick auspicious time starting from 4am to 6am. According to my 2nd brother, they want to settle things before the sun rises...gosh, really early. My brother was suppose to pick up the bride at 5.45am. Well, I was suppose to be picking up my relatives and bringing them there. So I had to leave home at 6!!! And I was kinda late a bit. :p Told my relatives I'll be there about 6:15, ended up there about 6:40. Need to prepare mar~! Anyway, dilly-dally till I got to brother's place at about 745. That time the bride was already back at home. She was introduced to all my aunts and uncles. All we did was wait for the auspicious time for every event to happen. Entering the bedroom, tea ceremony, picture taking. We went to my brother's room and saw a list of events, schedule for the events on wedding day. From 4am to the night event. My sis-in-law planned it all, right from the beginning to the end, including contingency plan too~! Finally saw Ashlynne after sooo long. Getting very very adorable. Met my brother's heng dai also. Can't remember all of their names. I think I only got Eric coz we sort of met online in facebook. Saw Hsu Kiang and Ming Ho, my bro's good friends back in Klang days. We were all chit chatting till afternoon, after the buffet lunch.

Sent off my relatives back to their hotel, we were off home to get some rest, bathe and prepare for the night dinner. Got to the restaurant at about 4 plus. Make-up and hairdo...then about 6 plus, people start to arrive. Got chocolate fountain also~! Didn't eat la. Busy walking around and ...acting busy. :P Most of the time talking to Hsu Kiang and Ming Ho. Think they are bored also coz don't really know many ppl there. The restaurant was nice. With really big heart shaped helium balloons. All pics with my brother...so I can only describe in words. Couldn't be in there to see their first march in coz was helping my bro out with the stuff at the reception.Only got in after the food presentation. Food was excellent. The singers were good too. Not a bad idea. Then the video sessions...all came out to be quite nice. :) Took a lot of pics I think. Need to see it frm my brother the next time. I don't look that nice for the pics anyway..sigh. The night ended at about 12? I don't know, wasn't keeping track of the time. All I know was my hair was still wet when I fell asleep in the living room in front of the TV, think the Golden Horse awards was going on.

Post wedding

Morning, woke up for breakfast at Yumcha with my relatives.I was all packed up ready to go back home...but my cousin wanted to stay longer, so we postponed the idea of going back to later that evening. Nothing much, just walking around, Centro, Clarke Quay and Orchard. Finally I get a taste of TCC!! Food is excellent. Cough was killing me, so didn't dare to drink coffee...should've~!!! Only took tea, not too bad. Food was gooooddd. Need to go there again. Didn't get to see lights this year. Well, can miss it this year la. After a long day of walking, took my relatives to take the bus from Johor. We got on the bus at 12am and reached the next morning at about 630am.

Well, the wedding's over. One thing that got me frustrated was how the whole arrangement with my parents and relatives were done. I was thinking of getting back soon coz I can still take it up to the last day when it all came out. Didn't want to throw any temper out, but the last day was a bit too much and I just walked away. Yea, probably not suppose to lash out just like that coz relatives are there...but really couldn't take it already. I wanted to go home there and then. I don't get why there was so much confusion at the first place...so glad I'm home. And I hope I don't have to be bringing relatives around for now.

Already a week after, my bro should be enjoying his honeymoon in Italy. Hope it's a good weekend ahead for all. Christmas plans should come into play already. It's just around the corner~!

Wai Ling's Wedding...

Attended Wai Ling and Choo Tian's wedding early November. Didn;t really have the time to grab all the pictures until recently. A big congratulations once again. Still newly weds, and I just got a glimpse of the pictures frm their honeymoon in Australia. I see that you have a great time there. Still wishing you the best in your future as husband and wife. Here will upload a picture of the beautiful bride and groom that night.

This is from the wedding reception in Bukit Jalil Golf Resort. Match-made in heaven!

It was the very first wedding among my MMU friends that I've attended. So this was like one big round of reunion for us. 3 tables. Although some didn't get to attend, but it was indeed a merry event. Haven't seen those from Penang for quite sometime.
So we spent the whole night chit chatting away while we dine and enjoy the traditional chinese wedding banquet. Soon it was time for the bride and groom to do the traditional cake cutting and champagne pouring. Not long after that, the yamseng was done. The night didn't end just there, we got a few people gathered and went on to one of the nearest cafe to have drinks. We went on chatting till about 1 something. I got home at 2AM that night.

A week later, bridesmaid duties had brought me to Sitiawan. My first time in the town. People there speak Hock Chew, one dialect that is totally foreign to me. We got there on Sat evening. Had this really big seafood feast~! The oysters were big and fresh...EXCELLENT. Since it was on Wai Ling's dad, we don't really know how much did that dinner cost. But we were bloated once we're done with our dinner/supper. The next day started off VERY early with us preparing for the ceremony. The bride was of course very excited. Bridesmaid had something prepared for the groom. We weren't that cruel la...just some simple things. Started of with a questionnaire for the groom, for each wrong answer, they were required to finish off bananas~! Then came the bread action. We made him bite and form the words "I LOVE YOU". Then came the sweet part, we made him write life promises to his dear wife. :) Finally, as usual, comes the angpow for us. Then he went to pick up the bride...and said the sweetest things to her. :)

This was the wedding ceremony in Sitiawan. The beautiful bride surrounded by her ji muis.

After that, we went over to the groom side. After the tea ceremony, she tossed her bouquet and Samantha got the bouquet. :D Not sure why all of us are so scared about catching the bouquet. I don't really have this culture back here, so this was the first time that I actually seen a bouquet been tossed after so many weddings that I've attended. :P Lunch, we had laksa lor mee. Was told that it's one of the local favourites. We bought their famous chili sauce too. One dozen to be divided among the few of us. I bought 2 back. After that, we got back to the house that Choo Tian rented and all of us slept for that afternoon~!Really slept. We were really tired... slept till afternoon and then woke up and got dressed up for the dinner. Wedding banquet in Sitiawan starts at 5pm. You know, being from KL/Klang, we were not really accustomed to this time schedule and definitely the punctuality part. We were late for about half and hour, then we walked in and everyone was staring. They've already began eating their first dish. We just sat and ate, at that moment, we were quite hungry too. :P We didn't finish the whole dinner. Here's another new wedding culture that I just learnt: Friends and relatives of the bride side will not finish their entire meal and will leave much earlier before the rest. Too bad that we couldn't stay for dessert that night then. We ended the dinner at 7.30pm. 7:30...that's the time when people start arriving to the restaurants/hotels for weddings back here in KL/Klang.

We had a great time. Wei Jing, Siew Theng, Cheng Khoon, Shiang Lan and me were left to stay over for another night. So we got ourselves checked in to the hotel in town. ST, CK and SL left early the next morning coz they needed to get back to Penang to work in the afternoon. Wai Ling and her hubby brought us to buy biscuits. They called it "Kong Peah"...don;t ask me to translate. If you happen to be there in Sitiawan, people there would tell you about it, and it's worth a try. They are pretty good when taken hot. Biscuits with fillings of onion and pork. baked with the most interesting way, something like how they make naan, just that this is with filling. So we made our way back to KL after that. Stopped by Bidor for super-expensive lunch in Pun-Chun. Yea,a simple plate of wan tan mee cost RM5 there. In the same small town, RM5 can get you 2 plates in some other hawker centre.

So that's about all I'm blogging this time...wedding bells are ringing again this weekend as my brother officially ends his bachelorhood(which actually makes me a target to all my aunts/uncles asking when would be my turn). We'll see how that will go..

Jusco Bukit Tinggi

The long awaited new attraction and talk of the town is finally here~!!

Got this from wikipedia, my goodness, look at the crowd~!!!

Look at the parking lots~! 5000 and I heard it was fully occupied on the day of opening.

He didn't capture the picture of the slow moving cars that had jammed up the whole Banting road trying to turn into this building. But anyway, it's a breath of fresh air for the residents of Klang I might say. Shops here are the ones I've been travelling far for. Starbucks is now 10 minutes from home. TGV is also near although not opened yet. Didn't sign up for the fitness centre, coz I heard there's another one coming nearer at the BBTOne Walk area. Some restaurants look inviting, so am gonna try them out one day. Frankly, will get bored of it after a while :P It felt like there's a lot of choices coz it's new. Once it's there for a year or two, ppl will start to get bored of it...I hope not.

I was there again on Sunday. Fell in love with bread from a bakery called Lavender. Thought of going there for another round after Saturday's first try on it...which I did...should get the bread once they are freshly taken out from their oven. Found something bad about JJ already. The lower ground area where they have cooked food was all smoky(refer to first pic above). Something with their ventilators...they seriously need to fix that. Well, the first 2 days, can't expect much from the restaurants. All the waiters/workers are a bit slow considering it's their first time...so that will take a longer period to monitor. Still waiting for Dragon-i to open.

So that's about all for this new landmark in town. Gonna make more visits there soon enough :D
